German Boy killer gets more International coverage in one day than Africa in one year!

sic!!!!!

Am not being cynical here, and condole with the German families that have lost their loved ones today following the 'much acclaimed' teenage shooting but hey can some tell me about this awkward disparity!

Some 17 year old loony brat goes into his fathers arms cache, pick one of the 17 guns available plus more than 100 rounds of ammo and goes on a police and robbers rampage in some remote German village that calls to the name Winnenden in south west Germany. The sleepy wealthy village is awakened to the horror and voila, all of a sudden all the top international media is swarming that 26,000 plus resident village as though Osama Bin Laden had just been arrested there! Reason?? This small boys has killed some 15 people dead! How many people had died in Africa from starvation within the same space of time that this lad was causing mayhem in a sleepy village in Germany????

I ask myself this. If Africa's 17 year old Tim Kretschmer had done the same thing would the world media be screaming from the top of their voices as they are doing right now??? For the whole day my TV set has been carrying CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, Sky News 'Breaking News' headlines about this brats escapades whilst two days ago, a major Africa economic conference precursor to the G20 summit held in Tanzania didn't even get a second of coverage on CNN et al! How boring!

President Jakaya Kikwete, while hosting this major economic conference attended by Africa's Finance Ministers and the World bank Managing Director amongst other dignitaries who included Koffi Annan and Asha Rose Migiro, set the agenda of getting the World Bank to change their aid disbursement policies with the aim of saving millions upon millions of poor in Africa. And yet, not a single second of coverage in the major international news media!!!!

Then some young brat goes ballistics in some remote area in Germany and people are scampering all over the place as flies fighting for a grab on fresh cow droppings!

How so boring!.......

Former Tanzanian President assaulted by some geek!

But why..

In one of the most baffling incidents i have ever seen in this peaceful country that is Tanzania, some freak, and i rightly call him so, decided to highly embarrass highly acclaimed and much loved Tanzanian retired President Ali Hassan Mwinyi.

Some nerd literally walked up to dais as Mzee was addressing was yesterday slapped by a man who emerged from the crowd as he was addressing a Maulid baraza at Diamond Jubilee Hall in Dar es Salaam.
How this happened amidst the grand old mans security detail baffles me as stunned Muslim leaders, diplomats and dignitaries watched the one minute scare as it unfolded.

In a split second, security men had pounced on the middle aged chap, floored him and rained a couple of kicks and blows as they promptly carried him away. Annoyed Maulid celebrants bayed for his blood as the ex President calmed the crowd and restored order in the hall.

The highly embarrassing incident was roundly condemned by a cross section of Tanzanians who expressed their anger at the uncivil manner in which was totally un Tanzanian.

Mr Mwinyi, presiding at the function on behalf of President Jakaya Kikwete, appeared calm after the attack, and said he had forgiven his assailant.

Mzee Ruksa, as he is fondly known in Tanzania is a much loved and highly acclaimed former Head of State whose soft spoken nature and religious inclinations have continually have endeared him to the masses.

This blog apologises to this Grand old man and asks beseeches security personnel assigned to protect VIP to be more alert in future. These are not those time that security of a dignitary such as Mzee Mwinyi should be lapsed.
